ComparisonEgo vs AuthoredUp
AuthoredUp alternative: Ego writes the posts, not just their formatting
AuthoredUp is the LinkedIn creators' favourite for formatting and analytics — and it openly does not generate content. At $19.95/month, the question isn't which is better, but which one solves your problem.
What AuthoredUp does
AuthoredUp does three things very well: a rich editor (bold, italics, a faithful preview of the LinkedIn rendering), a library of hooks and formats, and detailed stats on your past posts. It does not write for you: it is an editing tool, not a generation tool.

To be fair
AuthoredUp stays ahead on two counts: its formatting editor is the most polished on the market, and its historical analytics are finer than ours — Ego's numbers are read by the Chrome extension while you browse your own LinkedIn activity, not through an official API. If you already write your posts unaided and only want to format and measure them, AuthoredUp does the job.
Our verdict
The two tools address different blockers. If your problem is "I don't have time to write", AuthoredUp won't solve it. If your problem is "I already write, I want flawless rendering and stats", Ego is less specialised on that exact point. Plenty of creators run both.
Frequently asked questions
Does AuthoredUp generate posts with AI?
No, and the makers say so plainly: AuthoredUp is an editing, formatting and analytics tool. Writing stays entirely on your side.
Does Ego offer LinkedIn formatting?
Yes, free and without an account: our LinkedIn text formatter produces bold, italics and lists that survive the feed.
Where do Ego's statistics come from?
From the Chrome extension, which reads the counters displayed on screen while you browse your own LinkedIn activity. It never navigates for you and runs no background scanning.
